FAQ about 11-16 Expansion

January 2016

In July 2015 Castle Donington College achieved the long cherished aim of being granted permission to change from a 10-14 to an 11-16 school.  The results of consultation with parents, children, staff and a range of stakeholders in the community showed an overwhelming desire to reorganise the educational landscape for Castle Donington and its villages.

Exciting plans are already going ahead a the college and amongst its family of primary schools and there is a great deal of excitement about the future that is about to come.

The facts:

From September 2017 Castle Donington College will cease to admit Year 6 and will retain instead its Year 9 to go into Year 10 with the same pupils going into Year 11 in 2018.  At the same time, our family of primary school below will grow to include a Year 6:

  • Orchard Primary
  • Hemington Primary
  • St.Edward’s Primary
  • St. Hardulph’s Primary
  • Diseworth Primary
  • Kegworth Primary

The Castle Donington and its family of primary school are united in their belief that school reorganisation in this way will make an important positive difference to our children and their futures by increasing levels of achievement as well as equipping them with the skills they need to become happy and successful adults.
