Year 6

The practical investigation of Science is an integral part of all pupils’ work to enable pupils to:

i)          Plan experimental work

ii)         Obtain evidence

iii)        Consider and display evidence

 

Pupils will study the following: 

Life Processes and Living Things: humans and plants as organisms, variation, classification, environment.

Materials:  grouping, classifying, changing and separating.

Physical Process:  simple circuits, forces, light, the Earth and beyond.

In addition they will work on multi-themed projects:  Topics include Toothpaste, Tea and Dinosaurs.

 

YEAR 7

 

The practical investigation of science is an integral part of all pupils’ work to enable pupils to:

ii)         obtain evidence

iii)        analyse evidence and draw conclusions

iv)        consider strength of evidence

 

Pupils will follow the QCA scheme of work for Year 7.

Cells, Reproduction, Environment, Variation and Classification.

Acids and Alkalis, Simple Chemical Reactions, Solids, Liquids, Gases, Solutions.

Energy sources, Electrical Currents, Forces and their Effects.

 

YEAR 8

 

The practical investigation of Science is an integral part of all pupils’ work to enable pupils to:

i)          plan experimental work

ii)         obtain evidence

iii)        analyse evidence and draw conclusions

iv)        consider strength of evidence

 

Pupils will follow the QCA scheme of work for Year 8.

 

Food and Digestion, Respiration, Microbes and disease, Ecology.

Atoms and Elements, Compounds and Mixtures, Rocks and Weathering, Rock Cycle.

Heating and Cooling, Magnets and Electromagnets, Light, Sound and Hearing.

Solar systems and beyond (space project).

 

YEAR 9

 

The practical investigation of Science is an integral part of all pupils’ work to enable pupils to:

  • Plan experimental work.
  • Obtain evidence.
  • Analyse evidence and draw conclusions.
  • Consider strength of evidence.

 

Pupils will follow the QCA scheme of work for Year 9: 

Inheritance and Selection, Fit and Healthy, Plants and Photosynthesis, Plants for Food.

Reactions of Metals, Patterns of Reactivity, Using Chemistry.

Energy and Electricity, Gravity and Space, Speeding Up, Pressure and Moments.

Environmental Chemistry (project).
